About Research Centre for Applied Science and Technology

The Research Centre for Applied Science and Technology (RECAST) is a scientific research institute under Tribhuvan University, located in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, Nepal. It was established in 1977 with the goal of promoting research and development in both basic and applied sciences. The center focuses on identifying, developing, and improving technologies that are suitable for Nepal’s needs, especially those related to local resources and indigenous knowledge. RECAST works in multiple research areas such as renewable energy, biotechnology, natural products, biodiversity conservation, food and agriculture, materials science, and environmental studies. It also runs laboratories and technical services where researchers, students, and institutions can conduct experiments and testing.
