Nepal Television (NTV) is the first and oldest television broadcaster in Nepal, established on 30 January 1985 (2041 BS) as the country’s national public service TV channel. It is owned by the Government of Nepal and operates from Singha Durbar, Kathmandu. NTV was launched with the goal of providing information, education, and entertainment to the public, and it has played a major role in spreading news and Nepali culture across the country. Over time, it has expanded into a network with multiple channels such as NTV National, NTV Plus, NTV News, NTV Kohalpur, and NTV Itahari, broadcasting in HD and also through digital platforms like mobile apps and YouTube. It remains one of the most widely accessible TV networks in Nepal, especially because its free-to-air signal reaches rural areas where other channels may not be available.
