Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) is the national apex body in Nepal responsible for promoting, coordinating, and regulating health research across the country. Established under the Nepal Health Research Council Act of 1991, it operates under the Ministry of Health and Population and plays a key role in ensuring that health research is conducted ethically and scientifically. The council is responsible for reviewing and approving health research proposals submitted by researchers, institutions, NGOs, INGOs, and universities through its Ethical Review Board. It also supports evidence-based policymaking by conducting national health studies, setting research priorities, and disseminating findings that contribute to improving public health in Nepal.
