The Garden of Dreams (also known as Swapna Bagaicha or the Garden of Six Seasons) is a beautifully restored neo-classical garden nestled in the heart of Kathmandu, near the Thamel tourist district . Built in the early 1920s by Field Marshal Kaiser Sumsher Rana, this tranquil oasis was inspired by Edwardian-era English gardens and designed by the renowned landscape architect Kishore Narshingh . The garden originally featured six pavilions, each dedicated to one of Nepal's six seasons, along with fountains, ponds, an amphitheater, pergolas, and urns, all spread across a sprawling 6,895 square meters .After falling into neglect following Kaiser's death in the mid-1960s, the garden faced the threat of demolition before a major restoration project, funded by the Austrian government and carried out between 2000 and 2007, brought it back to life . Today, it stands as a serene escape from the bustling city, offering visitors a peaceful retreat to relax on its manicured lawns or enjoy a meal at the on-site Kaiser Cafe . The Garden of Dreams remains one of Kathmandu's most beloved attractions, open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with an entry fee of NPR 400 for foreign tourists .
