Dolpo is a remote Himalayan region in northwestern Nepal known for its rugged mountain landscapes, high-altitude valleys, and preserved Tibetan-influenced culture. It lies within Karnali Province and is one of the least developed and least accessible areas in the country, requiring trekking or small aircraft access to reach nearby airstrips. Dolpo is famous for its ancient Buddhist monasteries, traditional villages, and the protected Shey Phoksundo National Park, which includes the stunning turquoise Phoksundo Lake. The region is also culturally significant for its unique Bon and Tibetan Buddhist heritage, as well as its traditional trans-Himalayan trade routes and nomadic lifestyle.
