Dishes of India is a restaurant located in Belleview Shopping Center, Alexandria, VA, centrally located between Old Town Alexandria and Mount Vernon off the GW Parkway, with a full bar offering a curated list of beer and wine. It was founded by Chef Ramanand Bhatt, who began cooking at 16 in New Delhi, later worked at a prestigious Indian restaurant in Spain for five years, spent 15 years as an assistant chef for Air India's flight kitchens, and opened Dishes of India in 1997 after moving to the USA in 1981. The restaurant was destroyed by Hurricane Isabel in 2003 and took about a year to renovate before reopening. It offers free parking and is family-friendly, though it's located on the lower level and isn't wheelchair accessible.
